The word “arthritis” is derived from arthron, the Greek term for joint, and the suffix itis, meaning disease or inflammation. In fact, arthritis, comprising more than 100 diseases and conditions affecting joints and connective tissues, is a cause of pain, inflammation, and loss of mobility. Serrapeptase, also known as Serratiapeptidase, is a vegetarian enzyme that naturally eases pain, swelling, and inflammation from overexertion, injury, and everyday activities. Classified as a proteolytic enzyme, it is isolated from the non-pathogenic enterobacteria Serratia E15.

About C-Reactive Protein (CPR)
The amount of CRP produced by the body varies from person to person and is affected by lifestyle as well as genetic makeup. Quercetin blocks an enzyme that leads to the accumulation of sorbitol, which has been linked to nerve, eye, and kidney damage in those with diabetes.
Quercetin functions like other bioflavonoids in enhancing the collagen network (structural integrity) of blood vessels and is known for its antiviral activity. Although salivary enzymes accomplish a significant amount of digestion, their activity is limited to a pH level above 5.0. Supplemental microbial enzymes are active in the pH range of 3.0 to 9.0 and can facilitate the utilization of a much larger amount of protein, carbohydrates, and fat before hydrochloride is secreted in sufficient amounts to neutralize their activity.
Supplemental enzymes of animal origin are destroyed by the low pH within the stomach unless they are enterically coated. Yet, this coating can prevent the dissolution of the enzymes and prevent any digestive benefit. Studies have shown that non-enteric coated products can be more effective than coated products.
Furthermore, animal-based enzymes function only at the narrow pH ranges found at specific anatomical sites. Pepsin is only active in the highly acidic environment of the active stomach. What is Fibrin?
Fibrin is an insoluble protein that acts as a first responder whenever your body is injured. Fibrin is normally present in an inactive form known as fibrinogen. Fibrinogen is soluble in water and is found in high concentrations in the blood, where it waits until needed to form a clot. When given the signal, fibrinogen is converted to fibrin, which then assembles into an extended network of fibers.
One of your body’s first responses to pain, injury, or trauma is to produce fibrin. Part of this process includes fibrin molecules rushing to the scene. These fibrinogen molecules are shaped like a rod and come together to interlace and form a thin mesh around a wound. It is within this mesh that the healing process occurs.
Let’s look at an example; when you cut yourself, you bleed, but the bleeding usually stops fairly soon. Blood has a built-in emergency repair system that quickly blocks any damage to the circulatory system, creating a temporary patch that allows time for more permanent repairs. There are three basic mechanisms in the overall healing process. First, platelets (small fragments of blood cells that circulate in the blood) clump at the site of the wound, forming a weak plug. Second, neighboring blood vessels constrict, reducing the amount of blood flowing into the area. Finally, the protein Fibrin assembles into a tough network that clots the blood and forms an insoluble blockage. Together, these methods stop the loss of blood and create a sturdy scab to protect the area as you heal.
This mesh is critical for trapping the platelets and red blood cells needed to form blood clots. Without fibrin, even small wounds would just keep bleeding. Fibrin mesh is the base material for clots, scabs, scars, and eventual healthy skin.
When we are young, and our internal systems are vibrant and working well, the fibrin rushed to the injured site is returned to our body as we’re healing. After a few days of repairs, our system sends in a second group of enzymes to dissolve the excess fibrin and leave our muscles, nerves, and blood vessels just as they were before the injury.
When our internal supply of systemic enzymes is plentiful, once fibrin is produced, it quickly dissolves and leaves the area of trauma. What are Biofilms?
Biofilms are a collective of one or more types of microorganisms that can grow on many different surfaces, including living tissue.
Microorganisms that form Biofilms include bacteria, fungi, and protists. One common example of a Biofilm is dental plaque, a slimy buildup of bacteria that forms on the surfaces of teeth. Biofilms can also be found within arteries and body tissue.

Biofilms may form on a wide variety of surfaces, including living tissues, medical devices, or natural aquatic systems.
How Do Biofilms Develop?
According to the Center for Biofilm Engineering at Montana State University, Biofilms take shape when bacteria in moist environments adhere to surfaces by secreting a glue-like substance. This occurs on non-living materials such as metal and plastic (e.g. the slimy film coating a sink drain or shower curtain), but they also form on living tissues.
Think of Biofilms inside the body as microbial bomb shelters. A construction of sugars and proteins, biofilms are designed to protect organisms from the onslaught of your immune system and any antimicrobial compounds you take to get rid of the living inhabitants.

Study: Shelf Stable Probiotic LactoSpore May Improve Cholesterol Levels.

New research published in a peer-reviewed journal International Journal of Food Science & Technology found that Sabinsa’s probiotic strain Bacillus coagulans MTCC 5856 (LactoSpore) could be effective in managing hypercholesterolemia and may reduce the incidence of coronary heart disease.
“This is particularly significant because higher than normal serum cholesterol levels is the leading cause of coronary heart disease and other disabilities,” said Dr. Muhammed Majeed, founder of Sabinsa. Coronary heart disease is one of the foremost causes of death and other disabilities in developing countries and in the western world. The World Health Organization estimates that nearly 23 million people will be affected by coronary heart disease and that it will become the major cause of death by 2030.
This study investigated the in vitro cholesterol-lowering activity of LactoSpore. This probiotic strain was found to be positive for bile salt hydrolase enzyme activity, which is an important criteria and biomarker for the selection of probiotic strain adjuncts to manage hypercholesterolemia.
The study also reported that LactoSpore® was not only effective in reducing cholesterol in culture media but also in cholesterol-rich foods, such as egg yolk (39.79%), chicken liver (45.44%), and butter (49.51%) when incubated in conditions mimicking the in vivo environment.
The study concluded that LactoSpore reduces cholesterol levels in multitudinous ways, which endorses its application in functional food formulations and as a dietary ingredient for the management of hypercholesterolemia. It was suggested that use could reduce the incidence of coronary heart disease and other related disabilities.
