Your children and grandchildren will love to create their own organic apple sandwich snack using delicious organic and healthy toppings. And if you don’t own a corer, no problem. Just slice the apples into rounds first then use a small cookie cutter (designs like a small star, triangle, bear, flower, etc. are so much fun) to remove the core from the center of each slice. Afterwards, wrap sandwiches tightly and tuck into lunchboxes or have all the “fixings” ready to go when the children walk in the door from school.

Organic Apple Sandwich Snack
Ingredient List
- Small organic apples, cored and cut crosswise into 1/2-inch thick rounds
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (optional)
- Organic almond butter or organic peanut butter
- 3/4 tablespoon raw honey
- Semisweet organic chocolate chips
- Almond slivers
- Raw pumpkin seeds
- Raw sunflower seeds
- Organic raisins
- Organic ground cinnamon (to taste)
- Organic fruit slices (optional)
If you won’t be eating the apple sandwich right away, start by brushing the apples slices with lemon juice to keep them from turning brown. To make sure the apple sandwich doesn’t taste too lemony, try using a solution of 1/4 cup purified water and 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice. This is especially important if including the apple sandwich snack in lunch boxes.
Next, mix raw honey, cinnamon and almond butter or peanut butter together and place in separate bowl. This step can be omitted if you don’t want the extra sweetness.
HINT: Rather than making apple sandwiches ahead of time, place toppings in individual small bowls with spoons. Make sure you have a protected solid surface on which to make the apple sandwiches.
Spread one side of half of the apple slices with organic almond or peanut butter then sprinkle with remaining ingredients. You children will have fun choosing which topping they like the best and creating their own “special version” of an apple sandwich. It’s even more fun to build 2, 3 or even 4 tiers – supervised, of course <cough>. Top with an apple slice, pressing down gently to complete the sandwich. And, last but not least, ENJOY!
